Bill Hetland
C.E.O.

Hetland Seeds is a family-run business that has been working with farmers for the last 50 years.  Bill, the current CEO, took over the reins from his father, Forrest, and has over 30 years of experience growing and processing seed, with which he helps farmers make educated choices with variety selection and market strategies.  A few years ago they added a crop protection side to the business which includes a wide variety of crop protectants as well as custom spraying options.

Bill is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agricultural Economics, and is an accredited seed grader.  He served on the Saskatchewan Canola Growers for 6 years, including a term as President, as well as being chairman on the Nisa Appeals Board for 3 years, from which he gleaned an inside view of the canola industry worldwide and an idea of farm productivity nationwide.  Hetland Seeds is currently involved in several global marketing initiatives and is helping farmers to maximize their returns.

Bill is actively involved and on the board for the Naicam branch of the Canadian Food Grains Project which tries to tackle world hunger.

He and his wife, Lori, with only one of four children still at home, are actively involved in their community as coaches, fundraisers, and on church boards.

Lori Hetland
Office Manager

Lori and Bill have been married for almost 30 years.  Although raised a city girl, she has gained, through the joys and trials of a farm wife, an appreciation for country living, and a respect for the grit and determination that it takes to be a farmer.  Although educated as a veterinarian, she no longer practices, and spends some of her time in the office helping with the books.

Farmers Helping Farmers

Alongside Hetland Seeds, Bill, with the help of his co-farm manager, Jerry, farm 2000 acres, mostly Pedigreed seed, but also commercial crops. He knows full well the trials of the farmer and of the information overload that farmers face.
